Create a multi-day event with multiple ticket options¶
Set up a multi-day event in 3Common with separate times and ticket options for each date.
Who this is for
Hosts who want to run the same event across multiple days or time slots, and offer different ticket options and descriptions for each date.
Quick steps¶
- Open your draft event in the host dashboard.
- Switch the event to Multiple Dates/Times.
- Add dates and times for each show or time slot.
- For each date, open Edit time & tickets.
- Customize ticket descriptions per date.
- Publish the event and customize the public page URL.
- From the public page, confirm that guests can choose the correct date and tickets.
When you are done, guests can pick the date and time they want, and see the right ticket options for each.
Step-by-step walkthrough¶
1. Switch the event to multiple dates and times¶
- In the host dashboard, open your event at host.3common.com.
- Under the When is the event taking place? section, choose Multiple Dates/Times.
- Confirm that the schedule area now shows a list of individual dates and times.
2. Add and edit individual dates and times¶
- Use the date controls to move to the day you want to add (for example, clicking the arrow and selecting a specific date).
- Click Add time to create a new time slot for that day.
- For any existing time slot, click Edit time & tickets to adjust its details.
3. Customize tickets for each show or time slot¶
You can give each time slot its own ticket descriptions so guests know exactly what they are booking.
- In Edit time & tickets for a specific time:
- Select the ticket you want to edit.
- Update the description so it reflects that particular time.
- For example, you might change the description to something like "The 6–7pm show."
- Save your changes for that time slot.
- Repeat this for other dates and times. For example, you might describe another slot as "The 6–7pm show on Saturday."
4. Publish the multi-day event and set the page URL¶
- When all dates, times, and ticket descriptions look correct, click Create Event (or the publish button) to save and publish your changes.
- On the confirmation screen, click Customize page URL.
- Enter a short, readable slug for the event page.
- Click Create link and then View your event to open the public event page.
5. Test the multi-day event from the guest view¶
- On the public event page, look at the schedule section. You should see your first date and a note that there is at least one more date.
- Click the main call-to-action (for example, Buy tickets here).
- On the ticket selection screen, select a specific date and time. The description for that date (for example, "The 6–7pm show.") should appear.
- Click Continue to move forward with the selected date.
- Switch to another date or time slot and confirm that it shows the correct description (for example, your Saturday show).
6. Complete a test checkout (optional)¶
- On the checkout details screen, enter test attendee information (first name, last name, age range, and any required custom questions like dietary restrictions or "NA").
- Confirm any additional fields, such as age demographic or other custom questions, work as expected.
This helps verify that your multi-day setup, tickets, and questions are all connected correctly.
Duplicating a time slot¶
The duplicate button on a time slot copies that slot, including its time and ticket setup, to one other date. You pick the destination date, and the platform creates an identical slot there.
What it does not do: There is no bulk duplicate option. You cannot select several dates at once and stamp the same time slot across all of them in a single action. Each duplication is one source slot to one destination date.
How to duplicate a time slot to another date¶
- In the event editor, find the time slot you want to copy.
- Click the Duplicate button on that time slot.
- Select the destination date from the date picker.
- Confirm. The slot, including its ticket type, pricing, and description, is copied to that date.
- Repeat for each additional date you want to add the same slot to.
Workaround for recurring time slots (weekly events and similar)¶
If you run a recurring event, such as a weekly Tuesday tournament, and want the same time slot and ticket on every occurrence, the current approach is to duplicate the slot to each date manually, one at a time.
Suggested setup for recurring events
Set up your first date and time slot exactly as you want it — including ticket name, price, and description. Then use the duplicate button to copy it to each subsequent date. For a weekly event running eight weeks, this takes eight duplication steps. It is repetitive, but each date will have an identical, independently editable slot.
A "duplicate to multiple dates at once" feature does not currently exist. If you need this, contact support to let the team know, since feature requests help prioritize the roadmap.
Troubleshooting¶
Can I duplicate a time slot to multiple dates at once?
Not yet. The duplicate button copies a time slot to one date at a time. For a recurring event, you will need to duplicate the slot to each date individually. See the Duplicating a time slot section above for the recommended approach.
Guests only see one date or time
- Confirm the event is set to Multiple Dates/Times.
- Check that each date has at least one time slot with active tickets.
Ticket descriptions look the same for every date
- Open Edit time & tickets for each time slot and update the description to mention the specific day or time.
- Save changes and refresh the public event page.
Guests are confused about which show they are booking
- Make sure the date, time, and description clearly state what is included.
- Consider adding the day of week (for example, "Friday 6–7pm show") in the ticket name or description.
The Multiple Dates/Times option is disabled or greyed out
This happens when the event has a reserved seating venue (seating chart) attached. Reserved seating and multi-date scheduling cannot be combined. The platform requires a reserved seating event to have a single date and time.
To use multiple dates, remove the seating chart from the event. If you need reserved seating across multiple show dates, create a separate single-date event for each show and attach the venue to each one individually. See Creating events with venues for details.
The custom page URL is not working
- Double-check that the slug you set is unique.
- Try opening the event from the dashboard via View your event to confirm the correct link.
