Promo codes for venues

Set up promo codes for events that use reserved seating venues, and connect them to specific tickets or sections to offer discounts or gated access.

Who this is for

Hosts who want to offer discounts or gated access (for example, sponsors, members, or early-bird guests) tied to certain seats or ticket types.

Quick steps

  1. Open your event and go to Promo codes.
  2. Create a new promo code and set the discount.
  3. Optionally limit how many times the code can be used.
  4. Choose which event and tickets the code applies to.
  5. Save the promo code and share it with the right audience.

Guests who enter a valid promo code at checkout will see the applicable discounts or unlock specific tickets.

Step-by-step walkthrough

1. Open Promo codes for your event

  1. From your event dashboard, click Manage your event.
  2. Click Promo codes.
  3. Click Create a promo code.

2. Configure the promo code details

For each promo code:

  1. Enter a code (for example, SPONSOR, MEMBER, or TABLESEATS).
  2. Choose a discount type, such as % discount (for example, 50%).
  3. Optionally set a usage limit (for example, 15 uses).
  4. Optionally set a timeframe when the promo is active.

3. Target specific events and tickets

To connect a promo code to your reserved seating event:

  1. Select Specific event / tickets.
  2. Expand your event (for example, My Venue 1 Event).
  3. Choose which tickets the code applies to (for example, Back seats general admission, Table seats general admission, or VIP Seat).

You can repeat this to create multiple promo codes for different audiences, such as sponsors and members.

4. Save and test your promo codes

  1. Save each code.
  2. Optionally open the event checkout using Open checkout or a test link.
  3. Enter the promo code to confirm it applies correctly to the right tickets.

Troubleshooting

Promo code does not apply at checkout
  • Confirm the code is active for the correct event and tickets.
  • Check that the usage limit has not been reached.
  • Make sure the guest is entering the code exactly as created (spacing and capitalization matter).
Guests can use a code on tickets they should not have access to
  • Edit the promo code and confirm that only the intended tickets are selected.
  • Create separate codes for different groups rather than reusing one code broadly.
Promo-code-only tickets are not appearing after code entry
  • Confirm the tickets are set to Hidden and are unlocked by the code.
  • Make sure changes are saved and the event is published.
