Create an Instagram and Facebook Post from an Event¶
Use 3Common's Social Media tools to turn an existing event into on-brand Facebook and Instagram posts and stories in a few clicks.
Who this is for
Hosts and team members who want to promote an existing event on Facebook and Instagram without rewriting all the details from scratch.
Quick steps¶
- Open Marketing in your 3Common host account.
- Go to Social Media.
- Create a new Facebook or Instagram post.
- Choose Import Details from Event and pick your event.
- Review and tweak the caption, link, and image.
- Decide when to post and where to publish (feed, story, channels).
- Create the post and story, then review them in the list.
You will have matching Facebook and Instagram posts and stories linked back to your 3Common event.
Step-by-step walkthrough¶
1. Open Marketing from your host dashboard¶
- Navigate to host.3common.com and sign in to your 3Common host account.
- Click Marketing in the main navigation.
2. Open the Social Media tools¶
- In the Marketing area, select Social Media.
3. Start a new Facebook or Instagram post¶
- Click Create your first Facebook or Instagram Post (or Create Post if you already have posts).
4. Choose Instagram as the channel¶
- When asked which channel to post to, select Instagram (or Facebook if that is your focus).
5. Import details from an event¶
Use the event import option so you do not need to retype your event information.
- Click Import Details from Event.
6. Select the event you want to promote¶
- From the list of events, choose the event you want to feature in your social post (for example, Aurora Music Festival — Sat, Aug 15, 6:00 PM CDT).
7. Edit and refine the caption¶
3Common pulls in a suggested caption and event details. You can:
- Edit the text for tone and length.
- Add calls to action and key highlights.
- Remove extra spacing or repeated lines.
Use the editor to adjust the copy until it matches your brand voice.
8. Add links and choose media¶
- Use the Link field to add your 3Common event link, a video link, or your website so guests can click through to learn more and buy tickets.
- Choose the image or media you want to use for the post.
- Decide whether the post should go out Immediately or be Scheduled.
9. Preview your post¶
- Open the post preview to see how your text, image, and link will appear in the feed.
- Confirm that the event name, date, and call to action look correct.
10. Create the social post¶
- When you are happy with the preview, create the social post for your connected channels.
11. Create an Instagram or Facebook Story (optional)¶
From the same flow, you can also create a Story to complement your feed post.
- Choose to create a story.
- Choose where to publish the story (for example Instagram, Facebook, or both).
- Use Import Details from Event again to pull through the key information.
- Select the correct event date if there are multiple dates.
- Set When To Post (scheduled or immediately) and create the story.
12. Review and edit existing posts¶
After creating posts and stories, you can review them in your Social Media list.
- Click on a post.
- Use Edit to adjust the caption, timing, or link.
13. View the final social post and event page¶
- From the post view, open the live post and confirm how it appears on Facebook or Instagram.
- If there is a link to your event page, click through to check the full event details.
Troubleshooting¶
I do not see Social Media under Marketing
Make sure you are logged in as a host or team member with access to Marketing. If you still do not see it, your plan or permissions may not include Social Media yet.
My event is not showing in the event list
Check that the event is created in 3Common and not archived, and that it is associated with the same organization you are currently viewing.
The caption looks messy after importing from the event
Use the editor to remove extra line breaks and repeated text. The preview should match what you expect to see on Facebook and Instagram.
The post did not publish at the scheduled time
Confirm that your social accounts are correctly connected, the scheduled time is in the future in your timezone, and that the channels (Facebook / Instagram) are selected before creating the post or story.
